The
Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor technology works by analyzing
a beam of light, or input wave. First, the input wave is subdivided
into what are called multiple elementary beams by
a micro lens array that is composed of a matrix of miniature
lenses. These multiple elementary beams are focused by the micro
lens array towards a digital camera that sends the image data
to software algorithms which, in turn, analyze and determine
the phase shape of the input wave.
