Polarization
passive imaging for the detection of water bodies is demonstrated
with SAMBA. SAMBA allows the easy detection of water bodies as
demonstrated below.

On the "classical" image (delivered by a conventional imaging system), it is not obvious to detect properly the water bodies. The polarization analysis of SAMBA permits to measure the degree of polarization in real time for each pixel. The water bodies present a high degree of polarization, easily detected on the degree of polarization image. By combining a CW or pulsed illumination source with SAMBA we can also get an active polarization imaging system. |
